Mr. Amukelani Ngobeni is an accomplished mining professional with more than
15 years of management experience in the mining industry. He currently serves
as a General Manager at Implats and has built an extensive career across
platinum and gold mining operations.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Mine
Manager’s Certificate, combining strong business leadership capabilities with
deep technical and operational expertise. Throughout his career, he has held
various leadership positions in production, mine management, and operational
oversight, earning recognition for his commitment to safety, operational
excellence, and sustainable mining practices.
As a proud alumnus of the University of Johannesburg, Mr. Ngobeni remains
passionate about developing future leaders in the mining sector and
strengthening collaboration between industry, academia, and young
professionals. His wealth of experience, strategic leadership, and dedication to
professional development position him well to lead initiatives that advance the
mining and surveying professions.
Mr. Ngobeni serves as the inaugural President of the University of Johannesburg
Mining and Survey Alumni Forum (UJMASAF), where he provides leadership and
strategic direction in support of the organisation’s vision and mission.
