Ms. Phindile Zungu

Ms. Phindile Zungu is an Underground Production Supervisor at Sibanye-Stillwater with practical mining experience gained through both stoping and development operations. Having started her career as a miner, she has developed a strong understanding of underground mining practices, production management, safety compliance, and workforce leadership. She is certified in blasting and shift overseer duties and has built a reputation for her commitment to safety, operational excellence, and production efficiency. 

Her experience includes leading underground teams, coordinating daily production activities, ensuring compliance with mining regulations, and supporting the achievement of operational targets in challenging mining environments. Ms. Zungu holds a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) in Mining Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, combining strong technical mining expertise with effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building capabilities. Passionate about the growth and sustainability of the mining industry, she is committed to fostering meaningful partnerships between industry, academia, students, and alumni. 

She believes that collaboration and strategic partnerships play a critical role in developing future mining professionals and creating opportunities for student success. As the Sponsorships and Partnerships Coordinator of the University of Johannesburg Mining and Survey Alumni Forum (UJMASAF), Ms. Zungu is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with sponsors, industry partners, and key stakeholders. 

Working under the Committee Council Manager and the Office of the President, she plays a key role in securing strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that support the Forum’s programmes, events, student development initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
